Impressive International Admissions for 2007 / 08

Published on June 18, 2007

The high number of application files arriving daily from around the world is encouraging news for students seeking to be part of an international classroom in September. True to EDHEC's reputation as the most international of French business schools, a record number of applications from international candidates have been processed.

So far, the Theseus-EDHEC MBA  already has 9 different nationalities enrolled in the programme with countries represented including Denmark, Romania, Jamaica, United Arab Emirates, Japan, China, Canada, Singapore and France. The average age of these participants is 31 years with an average of 7 years professional experience which promises to provide a particularly rich learning environment.

Figures for the Master of Science programmes are equally welcoming for applicants who are interested in sharing a multicultural classroom with 20 different nationalities represented to date. This year 37 different nationalities were represented throughout the International Postgraduate Programmes and it looks like we are set to match this again once all the applications received over the past weeks have been processed. New countries on campus next year include Ecuador, Jordan and Australia and these are backed up by the usual flow of students from Eastern European countries, Asia, North Africa and Europe.

The quality of students accepted into the programmes has also risen since 2006, with impressive GMAT averages, well above the expected level. While MSc students in Marketing and Strategic Management students are expected to get a score of 550, the average is 570. The average for EDHEC's two Finance programmes is particularly motivating: 680 for Risk & Asset Management and 633 for Finance, both 30 points above the expected scores. A high GMAT average in the classroom is a sign of high potential students which in turn leads to the high quality learning environment found in schools with the three highest accreditations of quality: EQUIS, AACSB and AMBA.

Students already accepted in the programmes have signed up for the free two-week intensive French course initiated by EDHEC to facilitate the transition to life in France, just one of the many services offered by the on-campus International Office. This friendly team is on hand to guide students through the sometimes difficult first steps of coming to a new country and provides valuable information on administrative processes from VISAs to health insurance and even finds and reserves future accommodation in Nice.

Due to the quantity of applications, the deadline for applications for the MSc and MBA programmes has been extended to the 20th July which will enable candidates without GMAT scores to take this test more easily. The final committee for financial aid will convene on the 30th June, meaning that all candidates requesting scholarships should send their applications before this date.

A welcome session has been organised to gather and inform all the 2007/ 2008 students in a warm and friendly atmosphere - the ideal situation for these future EDHEC graduates to meet  fellow students from around the world.
