MSc in Risk & Asset Management New CFA Partner

Finance

Published on September 21, 2007

Following EDHEC's recent partnership of the MSc in Finance and Chartered Financial Analyst (CFA) Institute, EDHEC's MSc in Risk and Asset Management has now also been selected as an official programme partner. This latest development entitles the School to offer five CFA Level 1 Scholarships per year and should encourage more students to graduate with an additional qualification on their CV.

The CFA programme sets a standard for developing the skills, standards, competence, and integrity of financial analysts, portfolio managers, investment advisers and other investment professionals worldwide and is the investment profession's most rigorous credentialing qualification. To become a Programme Partner means that the courses covered by the programme has to cover at least 70% of the Candidate Book of Knowledge (CBOK). Whilst this has been shown to be the case at EDHEC, the courses offered at EDHEC go far beyond the required CFA syllabus and explore global financial themes in far greater detail.

This recognition also highlights the quality of EDHEC's Risk & Asset Management Centre and EDHEC's Finance faculty of which are also directly involved in other major professionally designated programmes such as the Professional Risk Manager Programme (PRMP), the Financial Risk Manager Programme (FRMP) and the Chartered Alternative Investment Analyst (CAIA).

This latest development entitles the School to offer five CFA Level 1 Scholarships per year (worth US $585 of the usual US $735 fee) to the five best academically performing students currently enrolled. It is planned to offer three scholarships per year to the MSc in Finance programme and two scholarships per year to the MSc in Risk and Asset Management programme.

EDHEC students are encouraged to take the CFA exam before graduation and benefit from the Institute textbooks, journals, webcasts, and other educational resources that are made available. EDHEC's MSc students students will also benefit from professional development events held in conjunction with the CFA Society, charter holders, and members.

Graduating from EDHEC with an MSc in Finance or an MSc in Risk & Asset Management already looks good on a CV, but to have the additional qualification of the CFA Level 1 or Level 2, certainly an added bonus that sets a graduate aside from other applicants in the eyes of a future employer.
